In 2023 we installed 36kW solar panels to manufacture our yachts using solar power and based in Cape Town we are fortunate to get sunlight most of the year. Since installation we have prevented approximately 20 tons of carbon emissions, the equivalent of planting over 1300 trees!
As we are situated in a water-scarce region, we will also develop a water collection & treatment system in the near future.
Since the 1980s, we have only used aluminium for our new build yachts. We have long regarded this material to be robust, durable and with a lengthy life span. It is also highly recyclable, requires significantly less energy to recycle than to produce new aluminium, and can be recycled repeatedly without a significant loss of quality, making it the sustainable choice. It is the material to consider for your go anywhere yacht while future-proofing your investment. Aluminium, is the future.
We see an increasing interest in hybrid electric systems on yachts as the technology matures and we are eager to incorporate these advances as well as using alternative sustainable choices in decking, interior finishes and more.
Being a boutique boatyard, we value every bit of time, energy and resource. All manufacturing is located and integrated in the same facility and our production systems are increasingly efficient. We naturally use all building materials quite sparingly and repurpose or recycle off-cuts where possible.
Our facility is nestled in the southern suburbs of Cape Town. We are able to employ and help up-skill people from the surrounding communities and as such with better proximity to their homes, reducing travel time, fuel usage and traffic-stress.
We are privileged to be situated next to a remnant piece of natural dune fynbos vegetation, supporting some endangered species of flora and fauna. Occasional visitors to our facility include owls, scorpions, baboon spiders, lizards, grass snakes and our resident pair of Rock Kestrels.
